چکیده
For the past quarter century, the architecture profession have seen tremendous developments in skills level, work processes and professional culture with the adoption of digital technologies. Investment in technology has always been to improve effectiveness in practice and increase performance in the design/build process that yields a return of investment at the end of the day. Today, more and more digital technologies have been developed and created to accommodate the high demands of the market over the years, including Building Information Modelling (BIM). This research paper aims to look into the insight of how architect firms in Malaysia are coping up with the introduction of BIM in the country. The main approach is by conducting a nationwide survey on all the architectural firms in Malaysia and the findings will be used as a foundation for further research on the matter. High quality research is needed to help justify the usage of this new technology within the country. Key-Words: Building Information Model (BIM), Computer Aided Design, Graphic Editor, Software, 2D Drafting, 3D Modeling and Rendering

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information
With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...
متن کاملReducing rework and increasing the civil projects quality, through Total Quality Management (TQM), by using the concept of building information modeling (BIM)
One of the important problems in the field of Construction Industry is ‘rework’. It affects time, costs, quality, and almost every criteria of project success. As a result of rework and ineffective use of resources and materials in the workshops, there is always a considerable loss of resources, materials, investments, and workforce-time. Designing and planning through full awareness of clients...
متن کاملTrends and Opportunities of BIM-GIS Integration in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry: A Review from a Spatio-Temporal Statistical Perspective
The integration of building information modelling (BIM) and geographic information system (GIS) in construction management is a new and fast developing trend in recent years, from research to industrial practice. BIM has advantages on rich geometric and semantic information through the building life cycle, while GIS is a broad field covering geovisualization-based decision making and geospatial...
متن کاملMeasurement of Theoretical Relationships in Building Information Modelling Adoption in Malaysia
Implementing Information technology (IT) in a system presents varied responses. Prior research models in IT adoption examine dimensions not limited to attitude, subjective norm, ease of use, usefulness, innovation including several moderating variables. Despite consistent blueprints on leverage on IT in the Malaysian construction industry master plan, the exponential growth rate of building inf...

The limitation of land in big cities has caused the vertical growth of cities; for example, high-rise buildings on the ground and underground urban facilities can be mentioned. This restriction has increased the value of land in cities, and on the other hand, it has created some new and complicated technical and legal aspects in the cadastral issues. To respond to these new technical and legal ...
